Here are some test pictures we’ve been snapping, to oohh and ahhh over the awesomeness of it:

This one was taken with 1/4sec shutter speed at f/4.5, 55mm (ISO auto = 1400). This is unedited, or SOOC (straight out of camera). (1/4 sec shutter speed!?!?!? That's pretty slow. And no flash. Look how sharp! VR (Vibration Reduction) technology IN the lens! Color me amazed!)!)

James shot this and the next few on Auto, and I'm too lazy to go look up the metadata on it. But pretty awesome pictures, no?

This shot was taken from the porch of the farmhouse, and was zoomed all the way in (300mm). That barn and the pecan grove behind it are, I would guess, over 500 yards away (but I'm a horrible judge of distance, so it's probably even further away!)

Look how crisp and clear the subject is, and the beautiful "bokeh" (blurred background, showing depth of field).
And here are some more gorgeous subjects for our test shots with our new lens

Incidentally, we were at a J family reunion (I mean ALL the J's, and there are tons of them, from the East Bernard area) in the country and Logan kept running onto the stage and hollering, "Lady and Gentleman! The SHOW is about to start!". But no show ever started. But he just kept saying it, because he can't think of anything to say next, or can't think of a show to put on! He's silly, that one.
So anyhow. That was my amazing surprise Valentine’s gift from my incredible boys. I got them all a little something too, but nothing quite this awesome. I did handmake their cards though:
And that’s about it.
Coming soon: Dawson’s TWO MONTH update. Yes, already. Yes, I know – that was fast. Much, much, much too fast. (((sob!)))
